The grapefruits on our tree are changing colors and almost ready. We got curious and picked a couple to try. They were pretty good already, but definitely needed some sugar to sweeten them a little. When we first bought the house they were about lime-sized and green. We actually didn't even notice that there was a fruit tree in the yard when we first bought the house. It wasn't until we got the electric report back that we noticed that they "fixed the wires at the back of the garage near the grapefruit tree".... sweet we have a grapefruit tree! They have been slowly growing and changing colors. We have been told that they are fully ripe when they are easy to pull off the tree. It is still a struggle to pull them off and they are still yellowish, so not quite there...but so close! Here are some picture of when we tried one:
We ate one while it was still kinda green, but was pinkish where a leaf had been. Since then they have turned yellow. See:
