Happy Birthday Trevor!

Yesterday was Trevor's 26th birthday!  He was on a fishing trip with the guys out at the island all weekend, so I didn't get to see him on his actual birthday.  He got home today just in time to deal with a "drain line stoppage" and two almost flooded bathrooms!  Love you babe! We were just thinking today about how crazy it is that this is his third birthday that we have celebrated together as husband and wife.  He was only 23 when we got married and now his is 26...crazy!

Since I didn't get to celebrate his actual birthday with him, I made him a cake and sent it with Rob for all the boys to enjoy.  I decided to break tradition this year and make him an actual cake, the two previous years I have made him a fruit pizza for his birthday "cake".

I asked him what kind of cake he wanted and he asked for chocolate cake with chocolate icing.  I then double checked to make sure he didn't really want a rainbow cake like the one I made Cara for her birthday! Cause I was pretty sure thats what most guys would want their wives to send with them on guys weekends :)

I'll admit it, I don't really care as much about how the cake tastes, but how it looks.  So I went with boxed cake mix and pre-made icing.  But then I had to figure out how to make a brown cake with brown icing pretty!  I decided to go with a fish theme since they were going to be fishing all weekend.  I googled 'fish cakes' and found this picture:

I decided to go with this design, but needed to make a few changes since the icing was brown and a brown fish wouldn't show up, and because my husbands name is 'Trevor' and not 'Josh'. :)  It took a little trial and error and some coaching from Mallory, Johnna, and Cici.... but this is how it turned out:

I was pretty happy with it, and Trevor claims that they all enjoyed it.  Happy Birthday Trev! There's always next year if you decide that you really do want that rainbow cake!
