House Before and Afters: Living room edition

This weeks room before and after is the living room.  This half of the house is a pretty boring transformation because we honestly didn't do anything but decorate.  The living room and dining room had been recently painted by the previous owner, and it was honestly the color we would have chosen for the rooms so we didn't touch them.  The previous owners had also already just added crown molding to the rooms (which I love!).  So, no fun transformations but some of my favorite furniture finds are in this room so I will tell you about those.  First, here are the before and after pictures:

Before

(I actually forgot to take a before picture, so this is a picture of a picture that my mom gave me, this is our first day in the house eating a picnic dinner in the living room with my family)

After

view of the front door and "entry way"

walking into the living room from the "entry way" and looking into the dining room

The only things in the room that we bought new are the couch, love seat, rug, and t.v.  The armoire is the first piece of furniture that Trevor and I ever bought together.  I found it on craigslist here in Corpus and the people we bought it from live just a couple blocks from us.  While we were there picking it up they said that they had a side table that matched that they would throw in for $30...sold!  There's not a good shot of the side table, but its the one with the blue lamp on it, by the plant.  I showed my mom a picture of our new finds and she said that she had just seen a coffee table that looked just like our stuff at Frederickburg Trade Days, so we went the next day, and sure enough...almost an exact match!  Sarah and I took a little sand paper to it to give it the roughed up antiquey look that the other pieces have and now its perfect for the space.  The other side table was a table that was left in an old apartment that my dad lived in way back in the day.  Lastly, I found the bookshelf at an antique store here in Corpus and gave it a little paint and sanding to match the rest.  I also found the tall lamp at the same antique store.  The two indoor plants were left by the previous owners out in the backyard, we brought them in and nursed them back to health.  And of course Trevor insisted that we hang his mounts in house, so his deer is hanging by the front door.  Just wait to see where the Aoudad is!
