Baby P {38 Weeks}

how far along?  38 weeks

how are you measuring?  They aren't really measuring anymore.

size of baby? According to Baby Center our baby is 19 1/2 inches long, about 6.8 pounds, and the length of a leek. 

heartbeat?   130-170's bpm on the NST 

total weight gain/loss? +26.5 lbs

maternity clothes? Mostly maternity tanks and either nike shorts or cotton skirts.  

stretch marks? ugh.  They reared their ugly heads this week :( Just a few around my belly button.
sleep? Not too bad, just waking up to go to the bathroom and take tums :)

best moment this week?  Trying to enjoy my freedom that I am about to lose!  I went on a spontaneous trip to the beach with some of my besties this weekend and then Trevor and I went to the movies to see "What to Expect When You're Expecting".  It was a pretty good movie, and probably our last to see in the theatre for a while!

movement? There is less constant movement and more resting time and then crazy time for the baby.  Still lots of hiccups!

food cravings? Still loving my icees

gender predictions? I say girl, Trev says boy

what i miss: Mobility, and eating whatever I want and not worrying about the consequences (Indigestion).

what i'm looking forward to:  Getting this baby out!

Boy or Girl?

I'd say about 95% of the people who take a guess at what we are going to have say "boy".  This includes family, friends, and the surprisingly large amount of strangers that like to stop me in the store, parking lot, restaurant, etc. and take a guess.  I think most people (at least here in Corpus) like to guess based on how you are carrying.  But there have been a few other factors people have used.  I thought I would compile a list of the common old wives tales and what we are having based on each one.


Morning sickness: oh yes... GIRL

Soft or dry skin? Somewhat dry... BOY

Are you craving citrus? loving lemons and limes in my water, so yes... BOY

Have you felt glowing or less than beautiful and had lots of breakouts?  lots of breakouts...  GIRL

Heartbeat indicator: always faster than 140s ... GIRL

Craving fruit or meat?: mmmm loving fruit and still not liking meat...  GIRL

Pendullum test: We've done this one several times and it always circles... BOY

Dreams: I've had a lot of both so this one doesn't really apply.

How are you carrying the extra weight?  everyone says its all in the belly... BOY

Chinese Gender Calendar: Says GIRL

Addition test (Month you got pregnant + age when you got pregnant):  Odd, which says GIRL 


So the total here is Girl=6 and Boy=4.  Guess we really will have to wait until the baby decides to make his/her grand appearance to find out!

Baby P {37 Weeks}

how far along?  37 weeks 

how are you measuring? The Dr. didn't say the measurements out loud and I forgot to ask again.  I'm assuming pretty close to right on track since the doctor didn't seemed alarmed enough to say anything.

size of baby? According to Baby Center, baby is 19 inches long, about 6 1/3 pounds, and the length of a a stalk of Swiss chard. Another source compares the size to a watermelon and I'd like to use that one instead, because it really does feel like I am carrying around a watermelon in my belly :)

heartbeat?  150's bpm 

total weight gain/loss? +26lbs

maternity clothes?  Down to only a few tank tops and t-shirts that still fit. I usually wear those tops with nike shorts or cotton skirts.  Its getting hot and I really don't like tight waistbands so my wardrobe is very limited!

stretch marks? I don't think so, but I can't really see much of my belly these days so maybe.
sleep? ugh.  I keep waking up with really sore hips so I have to switch to the other side until that hip starts aching.  Besides that and the numerous bathroom tips I'm still sleeping pretty good.

best moment this week? Getting a sweet card and flowers from Trevor to celebrate my "first" mothers day :)

movement? It's starting to hurt when Baby P moves, my whole stomach will bulge.  Lots of hiccups which are slightly annoying but I still love them.   

food cravings? I found a gas station close to the house that has dr. pepper icees... oh uh that weight gain is about to start creeping higher and higher.

gender predictions? I'm going to go against the grain and give my final official prediction of girl. Trevor says boy, along with about 95% of the people that guess.  We will find out who's right soon!

what i miss:  sleeping on my stomach

what i'm looking forward to: meeting this baby soon!

how are you feeling? Physically- super uncomfortable Mentally- Excited and anxious to meet Baby P! 

 

Baby P {36 Weeks}

how far along?  36 weeks

how are you measuring? we had our last sonogram this week and the baby was measuring in the 40th percentile for a 36 weeker

size of baby? According to baby center Baby is about 18 1/2 inches long, about almost 6 pounds, and the weight of a crenshaw melon. The sonogram showed the baby being at 6lb. 2oz.

heartbeat?  didn't get this stat this week but I think its safe to assume its still around the 150s

total weight gain/loss? +24 lbs  

maternity clothes? I only have a few maternity clothes that still fit, most are too small! Luckily I'm not working anymore so I can wear tank tops and Trevor's t-shirts around the house.

stretch marks? not yet, but I'm not sure I have much more room to grow until they pop up!
sleep? not too bad.  My bathroom breaks are now about every two-three hours throughout the night which I think is nature's way of preparing me for those night time feedings I'll be waking up for soon.

best moment this week? Celebrating Trevor's birthday with one of our last date nights without having to find a sitter :), Having a great report at the my 36 week dr. appointment, and spending the weekend with Trevor's parents giving the yard a spring makeover. 

movement? Lots of it! Still up in my ribs a lot, ouch! And lots of hiccups, which I love!

food cravings? Finally got an icee this week, and it was amazing!  Trevor stopped at the gas station right across the street from the Hospital after our appointment this week and we saw a sign that said $1 icees any size!  I had to run in and get one and they have Dr. Pepper icees! I'm thinking this will have to be a weekly tradition now after my appointments :) 

gender predictions? I really have no clue!

what i miss: not waddling :) Being able to go from sitting to standing or turning from my left side to my right side easily!

what i'm looking forward to: Crossing more items off my final "before baby comes" check list.

how are you feeling? I guess pretty good for being 36 weeks pregnant.  I definitely feel uncomfortable most of the time, but not so miserable that I want the baby to come early yet.  I still have a few things I'd like to get done first!

 

Baby P {35 Weeks}

how far along?  35 weeks

how are you measuring? 37 weeks

size of baby? Baby is around 18 inches long, about 5.25 pounds, and the weight of an average canteloupe 

heartbeat? 150's bpm 

total weight gain/loss? +24 lbs 

maternity clothes? not fitting in much these days!

stretch marks? not yet...
sleep? not too bad

best moment this week? I became an official stay at home mom this week!! (Ruby is loving it :))

movement? oh yes, lots of hiccups too :)

food cravings? still really want an icee or snowcone

gender predictions? no clue, not leaning one way or another.

what i miss: sleeping on my stomach

what i'm looking forward to: Celebrating Trevor's birthday today and this weekend when his parents come to visit!  And getting our last sonogram this week to check the baby's position, fluid levels, estimated weight, etc.  

how are you feeling? ehhh.  I just can't keep up with the pace that I am used to these days.  I get tired and achy from tasks that usually are no problem for me.  And I think I am starting to get Braxton Hicks contractions more regularly.
