February 14th is not just Valentines Day or the day Ruby came home, but it is also Cara's birthday! Cara, Jason, and Ainslee came to Corpus for the weekend to stay with us and celebrate her birthday. I spent all day Friday baking a cake for Cara, trying to get it finished by the time they got in town. I really wanted to surprise her with a rainbow cake that we had both seen on a blog. I made sure to ice it really well so that she couldn't tell it was rainbow... but she took one look at it and said, "Yea a rainbow cake!" Must be that weird sister telepathy that we seem to have!
They got in town just in time for dinner and the opening ceremonies of the olympics. Saturday we all slept in and took our time getting up and ready for the day. We finally ate lunch and the decided to cut the cake since it was so big and we needed to get a head start on it!
Then we all got bundled up and headed out to walk the sea wall to let Ainslee see the "beach". She wanted to share her goldfish with the seagulls.
After the long walk we met up with Austin and Kylie and ate dinner at La Playa and then came back to our house for a game of Settlers once the little one went to sleep. :) The next morning was Cara's birthday and she (and the baby in her tummy) wanted a birthday brunch at Cracker Barrel. While we were there Trevor worked some magic on the phone and we learned that we had a little baby coming home that day! We spent the rest of the day getting ready for the puppy:
And playing at the park down the street:
They wanted to stick around to see the puppy, but it got late and she still wasn't here yet, so they didn't get to see her :( Guess they will just have to come back again soon to see the pup! Hopefully Cara had a good birthday anyway! We loved having them here and can't wait for the next time... now Ainslee will have a playmate!

Wow! That cake is impressive. It makes my mouth water just to look at it.
ReplyDeleteOh my, Ainslee looks so close to the water!
