Twenty Six

My birthday was last week, and I think I successfully managed to stretch out my birthday week as much as I could :)  The weekend before my birthday was my cousins wedding so I got to celebrate my birthday a little early with my family.  Then when we got back to Corpus I declared that I was going on strike for my birthday week and not doing any cooking or cleaning.  We spent the week eating out for dinner every night, which I love to do!  In my defense, I did work a 40 + hours week, so when I did get home at night I really didn't have energy to cook or clean.

On my actual birthday I had to work all day :(  This was a first for me because I have always been in school, or working at a school so I have always been on Spring Break for my birthday.  My boss did surprise me with a yummy cake and wine and a gift cards for dinner and a movie!  So that more than made up for having to work.  After work we met up with Johnna and Robbie for dinner at Gimaldi's and back to our house for cake.

I thought that was the extent of my birthday celebrating... except for not cooking or cleaning the rest of the week.  However, little did I know that some of my most favorite friends were all secretly planning on  coming to Corpus that weekend!

I had to work all day on Friday and somehow Johnna convinced me to come straight to her house after work to watch Sister Wives :)  Trevor then sent me a few confusing text messages that didn't line up, but somehow convinced us to come meet him and Robbie at La Playa for dinner, which is a very normal thing.  Johnna kept stalling, but I still didn't think anything of it.  I asked her if she thought we should invite more friends to join us, but she said no...okay.  So we finally show up at La Playa and all my favorite corpus people were there (Austin, Kylie, Charlie, Reid & Amanda) along with Mallory and Rob!  I was definitely surprised, but I don't think I showed it.  I was just so happy to be there with all the people that I  love!

After dinner we went to Johnna's house for yummy cupcakes and to hang out.  Kylie made some amazing cupcakes, but accidently bought sparkler trick candles.  Trevor finally had to help me blow them out!  I look a little rough here b/c I had just worked all day and didn't care to look nice for dinner with Johnna and Robbie...oops!  (Mallory and I think a lot alike :))

Mal and Rob stayed with us all weekend and I apologized profusely for the state of our house (seeing as though I was on strike all week).  However, Trevor did a great job of trying to clean up without me noticing.  He even came home on his lunch break to wash their sheets because he knew I would have to have that done.

On Saturday the boys went fishing and the girls had fun girl time.  Mallory, Johnna, and I were hanging out in the backyard when out of nowhere Sarah strolls right in!  Another fun surprise!  We ended up meeting back up with the boys for a late dinner at Waterstreet.

After dinner we walked around downtown and found ourselves in Cassidy's Irish Pup drinking discount leftover green beer from St. Patricks day!

We all slept in on Sunday and met back up for brunch at Santa Rosas.  Mal and Rob had to leave after brunch to make it back to Houston for a tennis tournament.  The rest of us (minus Trevor) decided to take advantage of the last day of spring break and hit the beach.  It was crazy packed but it was fun people watching!  It felt great to get a little sun.

Sarah and Bill had to leave right after we got back from the beach.  And then life resumed as normal.  It was such a fun surprise weekend!  I am so blessed by all my sweet friends and family that made by birthday so special.  I think 26 will be a good year!
